How To Attract More Blog Visitors And Boost Your Business Visibility

One of the biggest problems people face when they first start using blogging as a marketing tool for their business, is knowing how to get their blog posts found and how to attract more blog visitors.

Because let’s face it, the internet is a very crowded and saturated space. And this makes the job of helping your business stand out from your competitors really freakin’ difficult!

But listen, yes it’s difficult, but it is by no means impossible. There are lots of things you can do that will help your blog and your blog posts stand out and be discovered and that will attract more blog visitors to your site. And I’m going to share these things with you now.

1. Create High-Quality, Valuable Content

The number one thing you can do that will help you to attract blog visitors to your site is to create high-quality content that’s valuable to your audience. You’ll need to step into the shoes of your potential customers here for a while and think about what they might be searching for in connection with your business.

Your blog posts should be centred around solving common issues or questions that your target audience has and if you’re not sure what those are you need to find out! The more helpful, informative, and detailed your blog posts are the more useful they’ll be to people. And when they find the answer to their burning question within your blog post, not only are they more likely to share it but they’re also more likely to return to your blog in future to look for further useful information.

Before you can get a grip on what it is that your target audience is searching for you’ll firstly need to really nail down who exactly your ideal client and target audience is. Once you know this, you can then use tools like Google Keyword Planner, Semrush, or Ahrefs to find the keywords your audience is searching for. Including these keywords within your blog posts will help them to rank in search engines, therefore making it easier for people to find them. And the easier it is for people to find your blog posts the more likely you are to attract more blog visitors.

2. SEO Optimization

I’ve talked a little about SEO already and how the use of keywords in your blog posts can help your content to rank better. But to really fine tune how we attract more blog visitors there are some other things we can be doing on top of this.

A blog that has been optimized for SEO will be far more visible than one that hasn’t. In order to help make your blog posts stand out from everyone else’s, it is essential that you include the following:

  • Internal links – Make sure you always link to other relevant blog posts within your site. Not only is this good SEO practice but it also encourages readers to navigate and spend more time on your blog.
  • External links – By linking out to authoritative external links from your blog posts it improves your credibility and backs up your knowledge, helping you to gain trust with your readers.
  • Proper use of headings – The headings you use in your blog posts should be used in a certain order to fully optimize your SEO. Starting with H1 as your main heading, your subheadings should then be used in the following order H2, H3, H4, H5, H6. Most posts will only require you to use H2, H3, and possibly H4, but they should always be ordered as such.
  • Optimized images – Make sure the images you use in your blog posts aren’t too big otherwise this will slow your site speed down and this is very offputting to both your readers and to search engines. Find out more about optimizing images for your blog.
  • Meta descriptions – These are short summaries of website content that appear in search engines. They briefly describe what a reader can expect to find in the rest of the blog post and will often make or break whether someone clicks through to the post or not. Unless you fill out the meta description it will remain blank, or sometimes your CMS (Content Management System) may add an automated description, but this won’t be as optimized as the one that you could write yourself. Make sure you fill this out clearly and concisely to help attract more blog visitors to your site.
  • Catchy titles – To attract more blog visitors you need to dangle a carrot in front of them to help draw them in and that’s where having a catchy blog title can help. It doesn’t need to be clickbaity (no one likes that!) but it needs to clearly explain what the post is about, answer a question or solve a problem, as well as being relatable and eye catching at the same time. Quite a big ask I know, but I’ll be covering how to write a good blog title soon, so keep an eye out for that and let me know if that would be useful for you.
  • Mobile optimization – Google much prefers blogs that have been made mobile friendly and will reward them by ranking them higher.

3. Promote Your Content

As good as it is to be consistently putting new content out there, that’s been SEO optimized, and is engaging and useful to your audience, to really make your blog posts visible you need to promote them.

Every time you publish a new blog post make sure you share it on your social media pages or groups. We want to make this as easy as possible for people to find you – both your existing customers and new ones too.

When doing your ideal client work, you should think about where your target audience hangs out. This will depend on the type of business you own, for example the crafting community often hangs out on more visual platforms like Pinterest and Instagram, whereas tech based businesses tend to be found hanging out on Facebook or LinkedIn.

Just remember, you don’t have to be in every space in order to attract more blog visitors, you just need to be in the right space.

It’s also a good idea to start building up an email list, as once people are on your list you have a direct line to them that you can communicate your message to and then later potentially sell to. A weekly, fortnightly, or monthly newsletter sent out to a dedicated email list allows you to promote your recent blog posts safe in the knowledge that it is reaching the right people.

4. Use Calls To Action

If you want to attract more blog visitors, every blog post you write should include a clear CTA (Call To Action). Now, by clear, I mean that it should be obvious to people exactly what they’ll get if they click on that particular call to action. It’s no use simply inserting a ‘click here’ button if you haven’t told them what clicking here does!

Here are a few ideas of good CTA’s:

Notice that not all calls to action should be a direct means of selling to people. Offering valuable free content can be a great way to attract more blog visitors as it helps to build up your EAT (Expertise, Authorativeness, Trustworthiness) something that Google uses as a measure of basically how decent a site is.

5. Engage With Your Audience

A good way to attract more blog visitors is by engaging with the ones you already have. Add a section at the end of your blog posts to encourage your readers to leave comments and to ask further questions. Get that conversation started!

Make sure you respond to these comments to help create engagement, to further show off your extensive knowledge, to mark you as an expert in your field, and to build a sense of community. People love to feel as though they are part of something bigger and by interacting with them you make them feel included in your world.

You can further this relationship and help build trust and authority by sharing testimonials, case studies, or reviews from people you have worked with before or from customers that have loved your products or services.

6. Collaborate And Network

Engaging with your audience isn’t the only way to attract more blog visitors, you can also do this by engaging with online communities in your specialist business niche. Join Facebook groups and forums that are related to your business or that you know your ideal client would be interested in. Answer other people’s questions, share your knowledge and expertise, join in the group chats, make yourself known.

This process is called breadcrumbing, and it basically involves leaving a trail of breadcrumbs in the form of you sharing useful information and answers to questions etc. in other places that then leads people back to your blog, thus providing the opportunity to attract more blog visitors.

Also, rather than viewing businesses that are similar to yours (but not exactly the same) as competition, think about the ways you could work together and collaborate in some way to help build up your audience. This could be in the form of guest blogging where you write content for someone else’s blog which includes a link back to your own blog, social media shout outs or takeovers, webinars, or working together to develop a course or membership. This will help you to tap into each other’s audiences, that will likely share similar ideal client profiles, and attract more visitors to your blog.

7. Think About The User Experience

There are 3 things people want from a blog when they visit it:

  1. The information they have searched for
  2. Presented to them as clearly
  3. And as quickly as possible

It’s that simple!

A fast loading website will stop your reader from straying and on top of that it is great for SEO too. If you have any concerns about the speed of your site, you can use a tool such as Google PageSpeed Insights to help you identify and fix any issues.

Content is obviously the most important factor of your blog, however the appearance of your blog posts has an impact too. A clutter free, visually attractive, well laid out blog post, with minimal pop ups, will attract more blog visitors than one that is riddled with ads, has no structure or coherence, and looks a right old state. Make sure your blog is clean and easy to navigate and you’ll be rewarded.

8. Repurpose And Update

I know all of what I’ve suggested might make you feel massively overwhelmed. Like seriously, we’ve barely got enough time in our day as it is, without trying to implement all this lot as well, right? Don’t worry, I totally hear ya!

The thing is, when you include blogging as part of a marketing strategy for your business, it can actually make your life a hell of a lot easier. You see, every time you write a blog post you’ve also created content for all of your social media posts and newsletters, and you can also turn that content into other formats such as videos, podcasts, infographics etc. This allows you to expand your reach and tap into new audiences who will hopefully then become followers of your blog.

If you’ve been sharing blog posts on your business website for a while now with little success, rather than starting from scratch you can update your older posts. Go back and read through them all, paying attention to the points I have mentioned above and check whether you are already doing these things or not. Look at whether they are serving a purpose or helpful to your audience and if they aren’t, think about the ways you could tweak them so that they are.

Add new keywords and phrases, update any information that may now be out of date, add internal and external links, add additional content to make the post longer, shift headings around. There is lots you can do so please don’t just have a moment and go deleting everything, you can definitely reuse it!

Google likes updated content and by doing this you can help boost your search ratings which will in turn attract more visitors to your blog.

Final Thoughts

Blogging is such a powerful marketing tool and when you do it right it can benefit your business in so many different ways.

By consistently applying these strategies, you’ll not only attract more visitors to your blog but you will also improve your online visibility and strengthen your authority and trust factor in the process.
